Dennis Mularickal
MA, M. Phil., Doctoral Associate
Dennis has been autonomously registered as a Psychological Associate in Ontario since 2018. Dennis is now currently completing his Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program at Adler Graduate Professional School. He comes to FTPS in this capacity as a doctoral associate under the supervision of Dr. Marlene Taube-Schiff. Dennis completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Psychology from Mahatma Gandhi University, India. He also completed a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Clinical Psychology from Sri Ramachandra University, India. After registering as a Clinical Psychologist in India in 2008, he worked in a tertiary care multi-specialty hospital until moving to Canada in 2015.
Dennis has vast experience in conducting psychological assessments and treatment across different age groups with a variety of presenting issues, such as Obsessive Compulsive and Related Disorders, anxiety disorders, depression, and life transitions. While practicing as a clinical psychologist in India, Dennis gained great experience in conducting psychodiagnostic assessments, psychoeducational assessments, and neuropsychological evaluations. He was responsible for the neuropsychological evaluations in the hydrocephalus clinic and memory clinic of the Department of Neurology at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, India.
Dennis has great experience working with individuals with obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours. He has worked with individuals experiencing intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviours related to contamination, harm, sexual behaviours, perfectionism, and just rightness. He is experienced in providing evidence-based interventions for OCD, such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
Dennis also has experience working with individuals with a wide variety of other presenting issues. These include providing evidence-based interventions for anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, chronic pain symptoms, and various phobias.
Dennis believes in a client-centred approach when selecting the therapeutic modality with individuals he works with. He employs a collaborative approach with people in order to decide on the methods to treat the symptoms presented. He draws mainly from a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach and will also conduct exposure therapy and mindfulness.
Dennis is compassionate, warm, and understanding in his relationship with his clients. He strives to create a safe space for others. He is experienced in handling multicultural clients and speaks four languages (English, Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi). Dennis prefers to spend time with his family when not with his clients and related work. He is interested in watching movies from different languages and enjoys outdoor activities.
