Jenna Vieira (she/her)
BA, Therapist
Jenna Vieira is currently completing her Master’s in Clinical Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from TMU. Jenna has experience providing clinical services to individuals with diverse identities and complex mental health needs at St. Michael’s Hospital. She will also soon be working at the Concurrent Disorders Program at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, where she will provide assessment and treatment services for individuals experiencing co-occurring addiction and mental health difficulties.
Jenna has experience working with individuals presenting with a range of concerns, including anxiety (generalized anxiety, social anxiety), intrusive thoughts and chronic worry, depression, PTSD, substance use disorders, borderline personality disorder, life stressors, and self-esteem challenges.
At FTPS, she welcomes both adolescent and adult clients from all social identities and backgrounds. She has a special interest in working with people experiencing OCD symptoms, body-focused repetitive behaviours, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, chronic worry, and emotion regulation difficulties. Jenna also provides comprehensive psychodiagnostic assessments, adult ADHD assessments, and adult autism spectrum assessments.
Jenna takes a warm, collaborative approach to therapy that recognizes the client as the expert on themselves and their experiences. She aims to foster a supportive environment that guides individuals to take steps toward their values and goals.
Jenna primarily works through the lens of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and integrates elements of other evidence-based treatment modalities, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She is also able to provide Inference-based CBT for people experiencing OCD symptoms.
In addition to clinical practice, Jenna’s graduate research broadly focuses on understanding the risk and maintenance factors for co-occurring anxiety disorders and addictions. She has conducted research on a broad range of topics related to substance and behavioural addictions, including predictors of sports betting and associated gambling-related harms, simultaneous cannabis and alcohol use, and problematic video gaming. Jenna also works with Gambling Research Exchange Ontario (GREO) to disseminate accessible summaries of recent research articles in the gambling field to the public.
In her free time, Jenna enjoys going to concerts, watching wildlife (especially squirrels!), and gaming.
