Amanda LeBlanc
MSW, RSW
Amanda LeBlanc is a registered social worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto’s Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work and currently practices as an individual and family therapist at Forward Thinking Psychological Services and SickKids Centre for Community Health. In addition to her clinical work, Amanda continues to contribute to the field of research and program evaluation at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences, focusing on improving access to care and treatment outcomes for individuals living with complex mental health needs.
Amanda has worked in both hospital and community settings, supporting individuals with various mental health challenges. She works with clients experiencing anxiety (e.g., Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder), depression (e.g., Major Depressive Disorder, Persistent Depressive Disorder), eating disorders, trauma (PTSD, C-PTSD), difficulties with emotional or behavioural regulation, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Specifically, with respect to individuals with OCD, Amanda has worked with adults and adolescents with a wide range of OCD presentations, helping people with obsessions about contamination, doubting, symmetry/exactness, relationships, as well as compulsions of cleaning, checking, reassurance seeking, and mental review.
She also has extensive experience supporting children, youth, and families navigating school-related challenges (e.g., stress, bullying, focus, avoidance, attendance), big emotions (e.g., worry, anger, frustration, sadness), behavioural outbursts, trauma, life transitions (e.g., divorce, loss, moving), and difficulties in friendships or family relationships. Amanda understands the complexities of family dynamics and collaborates with families to explore concerns, strengthen connections, and develop skills that foster resilience and long-term well-being.
Her clinical practice is rooted in evidence-based approaches, including narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), inference-based CBT (I-CBT) for OCD, exposure and response prevention (ERP), parent coaching, and play-based interventions. Amanda tailors her approach to each client’s unique needs and strengths, blending techniques from multiple modalities to support growth, skill development, and lasting meaningful change.
Amanda’s therapeutic approach is guided by compassion, curiosity, collaboration, and authenticity. She creates a welcoming, non-judgmental space where clients’ needs, values, and goals consistently shape the work they do together. She welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, abilities, and identities.
Outside of work, Amanda enjoys game nights with friends and family, playing with her dog Murphy, reading, working on puzzles, staying active, and watching thrilling TV series.
