Etinosa “Tosa” Oliogu

MA, Doctoral Candidate

Etinosa (Tosa) Oliogu is pursuing her PhD in Clinical Psychology and has provided mental health services across a variety of clinical settings, including psychological assessment and treatment at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for individuals with obsessive–compulsive and related disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other trauma-related conditions. She has also conducted neuropsychological assessments and cognitive rehabilitation for individuals with major neurocognitive disorders, traumatic brain injury, mild cognitive impairment, and other cognitive impairments. In addition, she has offered counselling services at the University of Toronto Health and Wellness Centre.

At Forward Thinking, Tosa welcomes the opportunity to work with individuals with symptoms of OCD. Tosa has experience working with individuals presenting with a wide range of OCD presentations, including obsessions and compulsions related to contamination, doubting, religion, harm, sexuality, relationships, health, exactness and symmetry, and perfectionism. When working with individuals with OCD, she uses evidence-based treatments such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT),  and exposure and response prevention (ERP) when working with individuals with OCD. She is also able to provide inference-based CBT for OCD.

Tosa has also conducted assessment and therapy for individuals with diverse concerns, including mood and anxiety disorders (i.e., social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder), borderline personality disorder, and ADHD. At FTPS, she provides adult ASD and ADHD assessments and ensures her assessment approach is inclusive and neuro-affirming to be able to meet individuals where they are at and ensure they can be their authentic self in sessions.

Tosa approaches each session with openness and curiosity, creating a supportive, non-judgmental space for individuals to share their experiences. Her clinical approach is collaborative, affirming, and grounded in evidence-based practices. These include CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Informed Skills. Tosa welcomes the opportunity to work with individuals of all identities and backgrounds and ensure people feel welcome and supported in their treatment. She aims to create a safe and culturally responsive environment where individuals feel heard, respected, and empowered.

Tosa’s research focuses on how stress impacts decision-making in moments of crisis and identifies ways to support people toward safer outcomes.

In her spare time, she enjoys exploring new cultures through food, language, and music, and spending time with friends and family.
