Questions Before Starting Therapy

Our rates have been set within the suggested fees from the Ontario Psychological Association and they vary according to the service provider and nature of treatment. We will discuss fees during your initial consultation. They are due following the end of each session.

Unfortunately, psychological services are not covered by OHIP. However, extended health insurance plans often provide some coverage. Once you have paid for your session, you will be emailed a receipt that can be submitted to your insurance company or used for tax purposes.

Referrals are not required and you contact us directly here. One member of our team will provide a free initial consultation by telephone. During this call, we will speak with you about why you are seeking treatment at this time and your goals for therapy. An initial appointment will then be set up at our earliest availability.

We welcome referrals from all healthcare providers! Please do not hesitate to contact us here and we will arrange for a free consultation and obtain all relevant information for your client.

Questions About Therapy

Sessions are conducted via a secure video therapy platform called OWL. It is compliant with Federal (PIPEDA) Privacy Laws and Ontario Privacy Laws (PHIPA) as well as regulations set forth by the College. You will be provided information to your secure and unique client portal prior to your first session. Your therapist can also send you secure messages through this portal, enabling information and handouts to be shared between sessions.

Therapy sessions are most often conducted weekly or bi-weekly to start in order to gain momentum and make effective changes. In addition, in-between session work is also an important component of your treatment plan and will be determined by you and your therapist when you start your sessions.

The length of time varies for each individual client and what they are seeking treatment for. That being said, our approach will help clients to learn skills and strategies to become their own therapist and understand how they can challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, behaviours and emotions and find a way to a live a life that is fulfilling and in line with their goals and values in life.

Any information provided to your healthcare professionals it held in the strictest confidence. No information that you have shared with us can be shared without your specific consent. Our privacy policies will be shared and discussed with you at the beginning of your treatment.

If you need to cancel a session, you must notify your therapist. Except under extenuating circumstances, you will be charged the full fee for any appointment that is missed or cancelled with less than 48 hours notice.

We do not provide emergency or crisis drop-in care. In case of an emergency, you should seek help at your closest emergency room.
